Why Choose Quito For Your Remote Work and Travel?

Churches and Monasteries

Many travelers and guides place the holy buildings of Quito at the top of their list. The city is built upon ancient Incan ruins which only highlights the complex relationship the region had with Catholic Christianty, but today the dazzling churches and monasteries throughout the city are an attraction in their own right. La Iglesia De La Compañía De Jesús’ interior is an opulent treasure chest of gold and jewels, the 16th century Monastery Of San Francisco gives a view of the iconic “Winged Maria” statue, and The Basilica of the National Vow is largest Neo Gothic basilica in the whole of North and South America.

Chocolate

In the art of fine artisan chocolate, where the cacao beans come from has a substantial effect on the overall quality and flavor profile. Most chocolatiers agree that the world's very best are grown in Ecuador, and it’s perhaps the country's most famed product. Chocolate tasting menus are common, and gourmet drinking chocolate can be found throughout the city. Ecuadorians add a bit of sugar to tamp the bitterness – and sometimes, even a bit of cheese to bring salt and fat into the mix!

TelefériQo Cable cars

At an approximate elevation of 9,350 feet above sea level, Quito is already one of the highest capital cities on Earth, but many travelers enjoy going just a bit higher to overlook the celebrated architecture of the city from the popular TelefériQo Cable cars. The highly-rated half hour journey offers an unrivaled bird’s eye view of one of the most monumentally important locations in Latin America.

Casa Del Alabado Archaeological Museum

Near Quito’s San Francisco Plaza is an exquisite Spanish-Colonial house built in 1671. Looking back to before the Europeans came, the building is now home to a museum of pre-Columbian art with a rotating catalog of over 5,000 pieces. The museum's art-focused approach means a visit gives you a sense of the craft and aesthetics of the ancient Americas, rather than the more traditional chronological and educational layout of most museums.

Parque Carolina

This sprawling 165-care urban green space is sometimes called the "Central Park" of Quito. Paddle boats, kite flying, soccer games, performances, and food stalls are sprinkled amid the park's trees and river-sandwiched by the The Quito Botanical Garden, and The Museum of Natural Sciences, where over 200,000 speciments can be found, including a massive ancient mastodon skeleton.
