Casa Del Alabado Archaeological Museum
Near Quito’s San Francisco Plaza is an exquisite Spanish-Colonial house built in 1671. Looking back to before the Europeans came, the building is now home to a museum of pre-Columbian art with a rotating catalog of over 5,000 pieces. The museum's art-focused approach means a visit gives you a sense of the craft and aesthetics of the ancient Americas, rather than the more traditional chronological and educational layout of most museums.
Parque Carolina
This sprawling 165-care urban green space is sometimes called the "Central Park" of Quito. Paddle boats, kite flying, soccer games, performances, and food stalls are sprinkled amid the park's trees and river-sandwiched by the The Quito Botanical Garden, and The Museum of Natural Sciences, where over 200,000 speciments can be found, including a massive ancient mastodon skeleton.
