As a remote worker, traveling with friends can be a hard thing to do. Although you may have all the freedom in the world to come and go, your friends and family probably have jobs that require them to get their travel pre-approved. Not to mention that they have a limited amount of time off every year. However, you don’t want to travel solo.
This is where Group Travel can be very beneficial and tons of fun. Traveling with a group of people that are also remote workers AND seeing the world seems like a dream come true. However, before you jump into booking a trip and hopping on a plane… let’s address some of the common fears of Group Travel.
I don’t know anyone with me.
This is the biggest fear that people have; trust me when I say, EVERYONE has this fear… but not knowing people is part of the fun of group travel. Not only are you networking and building relationships, you’re going to develop new best friends in the process.
Any time you start a group activity you don’t know people, but it never stays that way, does it? Sport teams, dance groups and new classes always start the same way - with an ice breaker, the exact way we start our travels. We start every trip with a welcome dinner and get to know each other! And this is just the start, you’ll be chatting with someone into the early hours of the morning in no time!
Still worried? Convince your business best friend to come too! We’d love to have them.
What if I absolutely hate it?!
You’ve looked at our website, Insta, and TikTok, right? There isn’t a sad face to be found. In fact, there are actually tons of smiling faces! Everything we do is FUN; even if you don't love the activity, you’ll end up having tons of fun since you’ve developed some great friendships!
Additionally, we interview everyone that joins us, so everyone that joins us has a great attitude and a go-getter spirit! Everyone is ready to act as a team and support each other. We don’t accept people that will have a negative attitude, avoiding any issues regarding that.
You can sit and worry about the fact that you may hate it, but I promise you, if you come into the program with a positive mindset and always find the good in things, you won’t be disappointed and you definitely won’t hate your time with us.
I don’t like being told what to do and where to go.
SAME. I mean, isn’t that why you became an entrepreneur / digital nomad / remote worker? Time & financial freedom!
We’ll never force you to do something you don’t want to do, but we do encourage you to participate in every event and activity in order to fully enjoy your trip! If you really don’t want to participate though, we understand. You’re allowed to do whatever you want, this is your trip!
If you don’t want to participate in any activities as a group, at all, we suggest that you look into some solo travel, it could be a lot more fun for you!
What if I don’t get along with everyone?
In a group of 15-20 people, you’re not going to like everyone, we know that. We’re all adults though, and we’re a team. As a team, you work together no matter what, which means that even if you don’t like someone, we expect you to be respectful towards them.
We do expect the same from them as well, if someone is not being respectful towards you, which has never come up, we will, of course, take action. We promise you will always feel comfortable.
There are a few things that I’d rather do alone. / What if we never do what I want to do?
Because there are so many of us, we can often split into smaller groups, each group doing a different activity. So there are sometimes numerous groups of people doing different things every day, I’m sure we will do everything you want to do!
Additionally, if you want to do something by yourself, that’s totally welcome. We ask that you let someone know where you are, for safety reasons, but you’re welcome to do as you wish! Again, this is your trip.
On weekends, we vote on a bigger activity to do, but more often than not, people agree across the board on the activity they want to do. These activities include anything from festivals, going to another city, and more, there are so many options!
I have dietary restrictions / lifestyle restrictions.
We’ve had different kinds of dietary restrictions, by choice and allergies, that we’ve worked around no problem. There’s food for everyone! Restaurants are usually really good at accommodation, and when we do grocery shopping, you can buy what works for you.
If you have dietary restrictions, it may be helpful for you to learn the key words in their native language, this will help you when ordering food from a restaurant and buying food at a grocery store.
We also have many ways to accommodate lifestyle restrictions. In this situation, please reach out to us and provide us with more information so we can give you the best possible solution for you.
I’m very picky about where I stay.
When you’re traveling around the world, for long periods of time, having a comfy bed and ample room is very important! We get it! When looking for places to stay, we do so much research, and only pick locations in the best areas with the best set up. The accommodations always provide a fun, relaxing, and productive trip.
If you do want to find your own space for the month though, you are more than welcome to! We have pricing options for people who want to take advantage of everything other than the accommodations. However, we always recommend staying in our accommodations for the best experience.
I don’t want to go over my budget.
Everyone has a budget while traveling, and sometimes traveling can get a bit expensive. Most places we visit are very budget friendly - food and activities are very affordable. But you get to decide what you eat and what you do, so you get to ultimately decide what you’re spending and what you’re not.
Our suggestion is to have a way for you to track your spending so you know when you should spend less, and when you have a budget to spend a bit more. A simple spreadsheet or document would work perfectly for this - update this regularly and you’ll feel really good about your budget!
I want to fit my daily routine into my travels.
You’re traveling for a month at a time, if you have a normal daily routine, we understand that you want to include that! It’s not some week long vacation, it’s a lifestyle.
Most places we go to have affordable gym memberships, yoga or group fitness classes, and more. If working out and staying fit is your jam, those are great options for you. Additionally, you choose what you eat, so you can fit that into your diet, and we have tons of free time to get everything you want to get done, done.
If there’s something specific you want to do on a daily during your travels, you can always do a bit of research beforehand and determine what is around and what food there is to eat in the area.
